Job Description

Among the current job openings in belgium, the European Trade Union Institute (ETUI) in Brussels is recruiting a Documentalist and Communication Officer. This full-time, permanent role combines library and documentation work with digital communications, reporting to the Head of Communications and Publications. The starting salary is €4,128 gross per month, with up to 10 days of remote work per month and an expected start in January 2027; applications close on 15 October 2026.

Responsibilities

- Manage the physical document collection: selection, cataloguing, indexing, filing and archiving
- Welcome and guide users in document searches and in using the Documentation Centre and the Labourline database
- Manage the Labourline database: collect information, index and encode using Kentika software
- Monitor the literature in the Institute's areas of expertise and send newsletters via the Kentika documentation software
- Check and correct the bibliographies of the Institute's publications according to internal rules
- Manage periodical subscriptions, renewals, receipt and distribution of new issues
- Support the Communications and Publications unit's digital communication activities

Requirements

- Several years of experience in a similar position, ideally in a nonprofit, research, academic or international organisation
- Mastery of information management tools: document management software, document monitoring and bibliographic databases; knowledge of Kentika is an advantage
- Solid IT skills, including MS Office 365, SharePoint, Teams and Zotero
- Fluency in English and/or French, with willingness to learn the Institute's second working language
- Knowledge of EU institutions, labour policy or the European trade union movement is a distinct advantage
